Timon & Melchior Grau
In the course of two years the gallery has begun to represent emerging artists such as Stefan Knauf, Brandon Lipchik, Sonja Yakovleva and Jan Zöller, with whom the gallery organizes shows and projects with partner institutions and galleries. In ‘Sincere Intentions’ we are showing the core gallery program with our four artists Stefan Knauf, Brandon Lipchik, Sonja Yakovleva and Jan Zöller all together for the first time.
Along with our four represented artists we have invited another four artists to exhibit in this group show. The guests are Timon & Melchior Grau, Kris Lemsalu, Tenki Hiramatsu and Nadia Perlov.
Each of the artists have found their own artistic expression within their discipline, yet all of them represent a generation of artists that relate to each other, connecting elements of sensuality, handcraft and a sincere artistic practice.
In the wake of the global political, economic and climatic crises of recent years, the artists articulate an attempt to escape the dead-ends and cyclical thinking of postmodernity, in pursuit of the lost futures that modernity promised us. Through an embracing of empathy, sincerity and tenderness on one hand and social, political and institutional critique on the other, each of the artists are proposing an artistic position for the future, that envisions new ways of forming our environment and society.
We are excited to see these eight different artistic positions come together in the exhibition and how each position will interact, question and synthesize to creatively shape the immediate future.
