NOW ON VIEW: ANNA VIRNICH Fertilizer Kjubh kunstverein 09.11.–30.11.2024
We are pleased to invite you to Anna Virnich’s exhibition “Fertilizer” at Kjubh Kunstverein, Cologne.
The new suite of works on view fuses the Anna Virnich‘s distinctive formal language into a powerful and self-assured setting. The artist crafts deconstructed works from textiles that exist at the intersection of painting, readymade, and assemblage.
The title Fertilizer represents the force of nurturing, growth, and fortification. Across the three verticals and one horizontal work, scribble-like markings, fragmented shapes, and bold assertions of form evoke the graffiti that leads to the artist’s Berlin studio—ciphered, faded messages and energies embedded in the bricks—and references Helen Frankenthaler’s work, most notably in the elongated landscape format of Fertilized V (in between) (2024).
